For more than twenty-five years, Dream Catcher Stables has been a place where horses and people come together to do something extraordinary.
Every week I’ve watched children who were once afraid discover confidence. I’ve watched adults accomplish goals they never thought possible. I’ve seen families celebrate victories that may seem small to others but mean the world to them.
Those moments are why Dream Catcher exists.
Today, I’m excited to welcome you to our brand-new website.
This isn’t just a fresh design or a new logo. It’s an opportunity to tell our story more completely, introduce you to the horses who make our program possible, and invite more people into the Dream Catcher family.
Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or you’ve just discovered us, thank you for being here.
More Than Riding
People often hear the words Adaptive Riding and imagine horseback riding lessons.
While riding is certainly part of what we do, it has never been the whole story.
Our horses teach patience.
They teach trust.
They teach responsibility.
They teach perseverance.
Sometimes they help a child improve balance or coordination. Sometimes they help someone build confidence after years of believing they couldn’t. Sometimes they simply provide a place where a rider feels accepted exactly as they are.
Horses don’t care what challenges someone faces.
They simply meet people where they are.
That’s something I’ve always admired about them.
Over the years, I’ve watched horses quietly change lives without ever asking for recognition. They simply show up, one lesson after another, doing what they do best.
Why We Built a New Website
For years, we’ve focused almost every ounce of our energy on our riders, our horses, and our volunteers.
Our website eventually became something we updated only when we absolutely had to.
It served its purpose, but it no longer reflected who we are or what Dream Catcher has become.
This new website gives us the opportunity to better serve our community.
Whether you’re looking for information about our Adaptive Riding program, interested in volunteering, hoping to support our mission, or simply wanting to learn about the incredible horses who care for our riders, we’ve created a place where you can find those answers more easily.
We’ve also added this journal so we can share stories from the program, introduce you to our horses, celebrate our riders, highlight volunteers, and keep you informed about what’s happening at Dream Catcher — because there is always a story worth telling.
Our Horses Give So Much
One thing I hope people understand after visiting our new website is this:
Our horses are not equipment.
They are partners.
Every lesson begins long before a rider climbs into the saddle.
Our horses need quality feed.
Fresh water.
Routine veterinary care.
Farrier appointments.
Safe tack.
Exercise.
Rest.
Patience.
Love.
Every horse has a unique personality and every horse contributes something different to our program.
Some build confidence.
Some encourage independence.
Some patiently carry riders taking their very first lesson.
Others have spent years helping hundreds of riders achieve milestones they never imagined possible.
None of that happens by accident.
It happens because people care for them every single day.
A Difficult Season
I won’t pretend this has been an easy year.
Like many nonprofits, we’ve seen costs continue to rise while charitable giving has become more challenging.
The reality is that caring for horses has never been inexpensive, and every year those costs increase.
At the same time, much of the equipment we’ve relied on for years has simply worn out through daily use.
As anyone who loves horses knows, they don’t get to choose when they need medical care.
When they need us, we have to be there for them.
We’re also working toward one of the biggest goals in Dream Catcher’s history: securing a permanent home where we can continue serving riders for generations to come.
These are significant challenges.
But they are also opportunities for our community to come together.
The People Behind Dream Catcher
One thing that has always made me proud is that Dream Catcher has never been built by one person.
It has been built by people who care.
Our Board of Directors volunteers their time because they believe in this mission.
Our program volunteers arrive ready to groom horses, lead lessons, side walk with riders, and help wherever they’re needed.
Families encourage one another.
Friends introduce friends.
Neighbors become volunteers.
A community forms around a shared belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the unique partnership between horse and rider.
That community has carried Dream Catcher for more than twenty-five years.
Looking Ahead
As excited as I am about our new website, I’m even more excited about what’s ahead.
In the coming months, you’ll see more stories about our riders, introductions to each of our horses, volunteer spotlights, special events, and behind-the-scenes moments that remind us why this work matters.
You’ll also find more opportunities to become involved.
